About the Book

The Color Of Angels

A point of view from the Jim Crow Era no one dared to speak on….until now. The Color of Angels follows a little girl named Sissy who grew up during the late 1950’s. When her father Billy Joe joined the KKK, her family was turned upside down. His hatred for anything not deemed pure by the Klan fueled him to commit unspeakable acts, not only against humanity, but within his family. He hated Sissy, he hated her before she ever took a breath, and he made sure to show that hatred whenever he could. Although this is a fictional story, it is based on events that were common knowledge to many families at that time, but were simply swept under the rug. This story details the trials and tribulations that were endured by both sides before the Civil Rights Movement became a prominent fixture.

This book uses known figures from the Chicago mob along with new characters to weave a story of loyalty, terror, family and revenge. The characters were well-developed and interesting, although some were a little one-dimensional. The story was somewhat imaginative and interesting. I found the style of writing to be a bit uneven, The further you get into the book, the less detail is supplied and things go by more quickly. Nickole becomes the Mafia Queen, but quickly comes to an unexpected ending.
